(32) Newark (14th Aug)
Had a bit of a shuffle over from the wall onto the pontoons this morning waiting for three cruisers to move off and just as I moved over to the spot a small cruiser shot into my place and the guy was in such a hurry to get in he slipped on the decking and bashed his knee...serves him right and at the same time a 65ft barge decided he way also moving up to the elecric point so I had to go down the river a little and turn around but it all came right in the end and we are in a nice spot next to the water point. First hand-over day today...Charlotte and Amelia are joining us and Niamh goes home tomorrow. Sarah & Chris and the family arrived about 12:30 having taken about an hour to get to us. We had lunch on the Barge and they left minus two at about 15:00. Margaret went up town with the girls and I stayed at the boat and had a snooze. Set up the tele/video in the back so Margaret and the girls are all layed on the bed watching a video while I am doing the blog and having a beer. Rang the lock keepers at Cromwell, Torksey and Keadby and booked my passage. Leave here ar 14:30 tomorrow leave Torksey at 13:30 Monday and should with no problems be locking through Keadby at about 18:00 Monday. We are on spring tides again so should get a good ride down the river. Oh... and it looks like the two boats from Ripon may be joining me.
