Took dogs for walk around the water sports park and for some reason Jess decided to go for a swim in the lake....probably chasing the Canada Geese which are in abundance. Filled up with water and locked through at 10:00 having listened to the forecast I suited up for rain, with waterproof leggings and my wellies....and good job too it rained on and off all day. We shared the lock most of the way down with 3 other narrowboats and two cruisers...I did say the Trent locks are big. Some times the two boats from Ripon who joined us at Sawley where a bit farty, not wanting to scratch their boats and insisting on tying off all the timer even through we are going down and in some cases 4 abreast..i.e. no where to go apart from down....but never mind. They indicated that they would like to go down the tidal section with me as they are a bit nervous...don't know why it is the first time for me going down as well...but we will see they are mooring in the marina at Newark I am on the wall tonight hoping to move over onto the pontoons in the morning. Any way it is raining again and being against the wall I have to throw Jess up off the boat and lift her back on,. which she is not keen on. The place is heaving with boats mainly huge cruisers that wouldn't look out of place on the Med. We just got in in time. Oh and nearly forgot we passed Kitty & Jack, who if you remember we left at Torksey...they were ever so glad to see us.
