Had a good start having had breakfast, walked the dogs and got paper etc., ready to go by 09:35. Made steady progress through the 12 locks stopping at Red Bull for water and pump-out, as it was there, then on to Kidsgrove, where the Harecastle Tunnel North Portal is and waited for out turn with another 4 boats. The water level is very low so was on the bottom going in and going out. The tunnel is 1 3/4 miles long and is fan assisted so the doors are closed at the South Portal so you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel until you are nearly there and they open the doors. Stopped for the night at Longport next to Westport Lake not far from Hanley & Stoke.
