(9) Shardlow - Willington (22nd July)

Cast off at 09:10 arrived at 15:50.

Total Mls - 136.8

Total Bridges - 15

Left at 09:10 and then stopped for water. Joined by a couple who moor on the River Soar and shared the locks up to Swarkeston Lock where we stoped for lunch. Set off again and then.....the heavens opened up and the rain even got through my new £2.99 PoundSaver brolly. We locked through Stenson Lock in the rain and Margaret got soaked to her skin, the die in her coat liner ran so she is now Tangoed. The engine room certainly makes a good drying room, I know why I built it....well that's my story. The rain stopped by the time we moored up at Willington, which is very popular with all sorts of boaters from the hire boaters, private owners and of course the boats of uncertain ownership, i.e. drop-outs and water gypsies. Been down to local shops for milk and papers.
