(7) Newark - Holme Lock (20th July)

Cast off at 09:30 arrived at 14:00.

Left at 09:30 and cleared town lock by 09:45. Straight forward run as all the locks are manned, big and the river wide. Not much fresh water comimg down so good progress made averaging 4.3 mph. The rain that was forecast by radio Nottingham never arrived but it is hot and sticky. We stopped at Gunthorpe top side of the lock on the BW pontoons to let the dogs off for a few minutes and then pushed on eating on the move. Arrived at Holme lock (National Watersports Centre) at 16:00 and had moored up on the last mooring after chasing the flock of Canada Geese away. Boy do they leave a lot of crap behind.
