Were going to have a late start, but the dogs got me up at 6:15 again, we were rady for the off at 09:30 even with a leisurely breakfast..run out of bread for me so had cheese fajitas for breakfast. Slow progress due to the canal being shallow and narrow in places (bit like a ditch). Very busy today with both private and hire boats....don't know if this is because it is the weekend, or if this is normal for the "Four Counties Ring" we will find out tomorrow. Stopped in Penkridge for water and supplies. Lots of hire boats setting out from both directions. Pushed on past Penkridge, where the canal runs parallel with the M6 motorway. From the mooring we can hear the traffic as we are about 100 yds away having now veered off to the right. Had to cut a way into the foliage to moor up with my trusty "wacker".
