Went for a paper and milk and walked the dog before breakfast with Margaret still in bed. The dogs have got this habit of getting me up at 06:00 to go out and when I turn my back in they are both on the bed.....ah well I surpose it is time to get up anyway and have a cup of tea. Set off at 09:15 passed the many moored boats. There are lots of hire as well as private boats as there are three large marinas not too far away both east and west, but not hit any traffic jams at the locks yet. As you will see rom the photos the canal is quite narrow and in some places shallow, mind you after a week on the River Trent everything feels narrow and shallow. The narrow locks start in Burton on Trent, where the canal side has been looked after with good mooring next to the park. Stopped at Branston for lunch at the water park. Passed Barton Marina, which is very large and has "shops",.... promised Marget we will stop on the way back. At Alrewas we go onto the river Trent for a short section before locking up to where we are moored just past the bridge in the village.
