Went to the chandlers and bought 2 caps.... 1 and a spare, so will never do it again. Margaret and Niamh went to the little shop for milk and papers and we set off at 10:00. Steady progress especially in places as it was quite shallow and through Woodseaves Cutting "very" narrow as you can see from the photos. The problem is when you have to pass another boat in the slightly wider sections you bottom on the rock. The cutting like a lot of the others was cut out by hand when built and then when you come out of the cuttings you are on top of a banking, which was built from what they cut out...some of these bankings are very high...you cannot believe that it was all done by hand. We went down the first locks of the day (5) which takes you into Market Drayton. Niamh now a fully trained lock operative raising the paddles as well as opening the gates with Margaret. Moored up and investigated why the toilet pump-out was not working...I think it is blocked in the tank, but before taking pipes off I am going to pump it out at the facilities and see if it unblock the problem. Lucky as it is the only B/W self pump-out for miles. Walked into Market Drayton and it was shut. Had a coffee and cake in cafe but they were shutting up. Called in at Netto and headed back to the boat and walked the dogs.
